OA flap of tomorrow!
Now here's a LOT of mental images to hold at once, but, as you all SHOULD be Scouters who read this, I'm certain you're all smart enough to do it!
Inasmuch as NASCAR's "Car of Tomorrow" has caused no end of controversy (and given some drivers/owners fits!), & as some have derisively referred to it as the "Car of Yesterday," given it's boxy nature & proclivity to drive & handle like a '79 Ford Bronco (I used to own one), thereby making it a perfect point of analogy for comparison, AND...
Inasmuch as nobody REALLY knows or understands, what National's decision to stop recognizing Lodge numbers ACTUALLY means - particularly when it comes to making patches, AND...
Inasmuch as both Takoda and Kittan Lodges - being brand new creations - can't seem to settle on a number either, AND...
Inasmuch as Scout Executives generally disdain their OA Lodges anyway (no money in it... ;-)), & would love to design OA flaps to their OWN specifications, AND...
Inasmuch as Huey Lewis & the News' "Back In Time" is some perfect theme music here, to be running through your head as you read all this (it also meets the "dorky" requirement for this post :-P), AND...
Inasmuch as I need to wrap this up & actually make a point, I THEREFORE present to you ('Gotta get BACK, in time...'), the OA FLAP OF TOMORROW!!!

Ta da. You can stick whatever number on it you want, but MOST IMPORTANTLY (to a Scouting 'perfeshunal'), the COUNCIL NAME is the most PROMINENT feature on the flap. In fact, I'm sure your friendly neighborhood Scout Executive, would prefer to remove all the other "clutter," and give you a flap-shaped patch, with just the Council name on it! Oooh - & maybe HIS smiling picture, holding a fistful of FOS dollars as a 'totem.'
Bob McCanless :-P
Pittsburgh
p.s. - thanks again to John Pannell, for letting me borrow his 'Bison!'
